Greater Anglia launches discounts for exploring Suffolk by train this summer
Greater Anglia is encouraging people to explore Suffolk by train with a range of discounted deals.
The train operator has introduced a variety of money-saving ticket options — including Advance fares, GroupSave, Duo tickets, Ranger passes and discounts with the Family & Friends Railcard.
Two events happening this month, which are said to be ideal for train travellers, include First Light Festival in Lowestoft and Felixstowe Book Festival.
Taking place over June 21 and 22, First Light Festival will celebrate the summer solstice with a free weekend of music, art, poetry, comedy, talks and family-friendly activities.
The festival begins at midday on Saturday and continues until 4pm on Sunday — with sunrise celebrations taking place from 3.30am on Sunday morning.
To help festivalgoers get home, Greater Anglia is running a special late-night train to Ipswich which departs Lowestoft at 11.05pm.
Lowestoft station is a 25-minute seafront walk from the festival site.
Felixstowe Book Festival returns to Harvest House for its twelfth year with appearances from award-winning and debut authors.
Celebrating ‘Books by the Sea’, tickets cost between £5 and £12 and there is a 15-minute walk to the venue from Felixstowe station.
Martin Moran, Greater Anglia’s commercial and customer services director, said: “Travelling by train is cheaper than you think and with our price promise and no booking fees, you are guaranteed to get the lowest price when you book through our website.
“Our region has so much to offer and whether it’s a trip to the city or coast, shopping or sightseeing, we are giving people more money to spend on having a great time by helping them save money on their train fare.”
