East of England Co-op to open new Ipswich store in Woodbridge Road this week




The opening date for a new Ipswich store on the site of an former car dealership has been revealed.

The East of England Co-op has confirmed that its new Co-op Food outlet at 345 Woodbridge Road will welcome customers on Wednesday.

The store, at the old Renault dealership, will replace the existing shop at the corner of Albion Hill and Brunswick Road, with all staff set to be transferred.

Andy Rigby, chief executive of the East of England Co-op said: “We’re proud to be opening the doors to our brand-new Woodbridge Road Food store – a modern, community-focused space designed with our customers’ needs at heart.

“With more food-to-go options and an improved shopping experience, we’re confident this new store will better serve the local area, while continuing the legacy and relationships we’ve built at our Brunswick Road location.”

Customers who visit the store on its opening morning will have the opportunity to take home one of 50 prizes, including £100 worth of in store vouchers.

The shop will contain a range of services, including a bakery and hot food offerings, a coffee-to-go machine, freshly squeezed orange juice from iSqueeze, Fwip ice cream and Tango Ice Blast.

The new store will be run by Sharon Hall, who expressed her excitement at the store’s opening.

She has worked for the firm for 15 years, including seven as a shop manager.

She said: “I’m absolutely thrilled to be joining the team here at Woodbridge Road.

“I know just how important this local store is to its community. It’s a real privilege to help deliver a fresh new shopping experience for our customers.”

This is the second store the East of England Co-op has opened in Ipswich this month, following the launch of a store at the train station in Burrell Road.

It also has plans to open new stores in East Bergholt, Thetford and Hellesdon.
