The Framsden Greyhound, in The Street, to gain new lease of life as Mid Suffolk District Council approves upgrade plans
A village’s community pub will gain a new lease of life after plans to upgrade it were approved.
Mid Suffolk District Council has granted permission for the works at The Framsden Greyhound, in The Street, which will facilitate its continued use as a public house into the future.
The venue will have a facelift inside under the plans.
This includes the installation of a new wood burning stove and the creation of a new bar entrance, as well as replastering the ground floor ceiling, repairing its windows and upgrading electrical systems.
The ground floor walls will be repaired and a new fire protection system installed.
On the outside, a new package sewage plant will be created as well as putting in a new LPG tank.
The pub will gain new ventilation and insulation infrastructure and its chimney stack will be raised to accord with national rules.
The building is Grade II-listed.
Two public representations of support were submitted to the application, which said the building has been derelict for eight years and was flooded in Storm Babet.
The two residents said, as it is now a community-owned asset, the building can be brought back into public use and preserved.
Some concerns were raised by another two members of the public in neutral comments, which said events could cause on-street parking issues and the new infrastructure could impact the outlook over the site.
Planners said the works would be in keeping with the building’s heritage and the character of the area.
